U.S. Rep. Bill Flores R-Waco, presented the Congressional Veteran Commendation Award to Dr. Michael Russell who works at the Center of Excellence housed at the Waco VA facilities; Maurice Ramon, who served two tours in Vietnam, the reserves, and now is part of the VFW and provides PTSD counseling to veterans, and 20-year Air Force veteran Everlyn Humphrey, who works at the VA and volunteers at the Veterans One Stop.
“You see a smile on somebody’s face when they haven’t eaten or need clothes for an interview, you connect them to a resource they haven’t been able to get to in other situations and they’re so grateful,” Humphrey said.
“Everyone is so very grateful and we have a really good community here in Central Texas and it really puts a smile on your face.”
State Rep. Charles “Doc” Anderson, R-Waco, also presented the three with flags that were flown over the Texas Capitol.
